When I received an email from James Ray regarding the loss of life at one of his retreats I was shocked. Then I became introspective. Why, I asked? What circumstances led up to the deaths of three people and serious sickness for several more?
The knee-jerk reaction on the internet has been the usual pointing fingers and blame at Mr. Ray and his team. Negligence on Ray's part? One witness to the sweat lodge event, who is suing Ray, claimed that he "chided" those who wanted to leave the tent. Also a breakfast buffet was served, after a fasting period the day before, before the participants went into the sweat lodge! Not a good idea to go into 120 degrees right after eating a big meal.
So the evidence seems to be stacking up against James Arthur Ray, who's fame was catapulted after his time in the spotlight in the DVD The Secret. I've attended a free event of Ray's and have read one of his free publications and found him to be the usual dynamic stage presenter that you have to be to be successful in the personal development world.

I was having a discussion with a friend this morning. In fact this was our third meeting this week. He's facing a fairly dark financial scenario as a result of the economic environment.
I offered to meet with him this week as a way of supporting him emotionally. I knew I couldn't offer him any magic bullet to make his financial picture magically improve over night but I did know I could offer him a more objective perspective of what he was going through and how he and his wife might maneuver through this challenging time less burdened by stress.
